Roxy Davis Teaches
Surfing champion and entrepreneur Roxy Davis found her purpose in the water. After a fruitful surfing career and an impact on her community like no other woman surfer before her, she begins on a new venture in wellness and health that's seen her changing the lives of even more people.
In this course, Roxy shares her journey, in the water and in business, and what it has taken for her to beat her fears and build something so meaningful.
Roxy found her passion while in high school, at a time she admits she felt unremarkable and lacking in confidence.
Her success in surfing flowed into the rest of her life, increasing her confidence and sense of worth.
That confidence and go-getter attitude now serve her businesses and foundation well.
Roxy didn't start Surf Emporium with the aim of turning it into a successful surfing school.
Rather, she wanted to create a space and environment where girls and women could feel like part of a tribe.
Eventually, this grew to include boys and men too, allowing everyone to benefit from surfing.
The height of her success was also a really dark time for Roxy.
Despite projecting a successful, self-assured persona in public, internally she was in turmoil.
Through her surfing establishments, she was able to work through that tough time and be the light for others too.
Roxy finds balance by seeking out moments to be still, which usually means being in her natural habitat, water.
When she can't have those moments, everything else is off-kilter.
Being mindful and focusing on the moment, no matter what it is, also helps.
Being in the moment is important for maintaining a balance.
Roxy likes to slot time out in the day to be fully engaged with her baby daughter Grace.
She has what she calls 'board meetings' with Grace, where they hang and connect, just the two of them.
Roxy has had to make two risky decisions where Surf Emporium is concerned.
In both cases, she trusted her instinct and let her belief in herself guide her decisions.
Once Roxy makes a decision, she's all in. This is evident from the success that came out of both decisions.
Competitive sport has been beneficial for Roxy in many ways.
It's taught her to trust her instincts and to adapt quickly.
It's also taught her to look at the bigger picture from the get-go - useful skills for running a business.
Roxy believes in the well-being of her team.
She's seen first hand what the right environment can do for her team's productivity - so when surf's up, it is time to play.
Her passion for wellness has grown into a whole health brand, Sally-Ann Creed
After Surf Emporium, Roxy and her husband Will wanted the next venture to allow them to focus on their family.
Wellness and health was a natural next move for the couple.
Roxy is now the CEO of Sally-Ann Creed, a health and wellness brand that believes food should be our medicine.
Through her work, Roxy wants to create a movement of people that are less reactive and more proactive.
We need to be able to feed our bodies the right fuel if we want them to function properly.
Her new venture, Sally-Ann Creed, is focused on educating people on exactly that.
